The monastery in brief ...
The Brou Royal Monastery was built with skillfulness at the beginning of the sixteenth century by Marguerite of Austria, duchess of Savoy and then by Regente of Netherlands, daughter of Emperor, aunt of Charles Quint and Francois 1er.
It took 25 years, from 1506 to 1532, and the best regional and Flemish builders to build this masterpiece of flamboyant gothic style. The church, with the shining glazed roof and sumptuously decorated choir, was designed as a funeral casket to house three princely tombs.
It was served by a monastery of three cloisters that now houses the Brou Museum .Not to be missed ...
